Amenia Steak House: Reviews & Ratings
What an amazing experience! My family tried Amenia Steakhouse for the 1st time this past weekend and we each said it is #1 on our list. The waitstaff, although very short handed, was absolutely on point! Luciano, it was a true pleasure. The food was top shelf delicious. You know the chef truly cares. We look forward to bringing family and friends, as this is now our favorite place.
Wanted to have steak dinner while driving through this side of New York. Amenia Steakhouse popped on Yelp but didn't have menus nor significant reviews, but we decided to eat here anyway. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was nice and friendly despite being so busy. So we started with clam chowder. This was okay. Having had the best clam chowders in Maine, I didn't expect much, but surprisingly, this was not bad. We shared the stuffed mushroom, nothing to write home about. But the New York strip dinner was cooked perfectly at medium-rare. The char was a bit much, and this was a 1-inch steak, and it was good! BF enjoyed his lamb burger as one of the specials. It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it. It's a nice restaurant and had a vibrant vibe despite being in a rural area of New York.
We live near by in Dover, and found thus plc near my job at Silo ridge, the food was excellent, and the service was even better. Great plc to eat Great food and enjoy a day with loved ones and friends. Can't wait to go back.
My wife and I went there the other night for what we hoped would be a nice, romantic couples dinner. The atmosphere here is... confused. The menu and pricing say "nice night out," but the atmosphere says "local bar." To start, we called ahead to reserve a table on a busy night, and upon arrival, the hostess told us that she had just given it away... Okay... She later spilled my wife's soup, which, thankfully, stayed in the saucer, but she definitely didn't help things, especially with a bad first impression. The food was pretty good, and our server, Luciano, was great- very personable, and he made the night enjoyable overall. Where things get disjointed is dining in the barroom- it is LOUD, and having a lovely fireplace right near the bar is a bit odd. It seems like this was built to be an upscale-ish steakhouse, and then the bar scene took over the front room. We were all but shouting to hear each other across the table, which certainly isn't what I would expect from a place charging near-Millbrook prices. My filet was fine- it's a filet- it was well-seasoned and tasty. The peppercorn sauce, which my wife got with her steak, was excellent! Definitely a must-try. The duck wontons were very good, and the buffalo chicken wontons dabbed in the duck sauce were a good combination (my idea, not from the menu, but I would ask for it again if I got the BC wontons again 100%). We will definitely be back to give it another shot, preferably for lunch, and definitely to sit in the other dining room, assuming a table is available (and not given away if we call ahead!). I want to try a more basic dinner (burger and wings or somesuch) and see if that feels more in-line with the place. I would certainly try to go when Luciano is working- he is a very good server, and as a former restaurant owner and server, I appreciate the good ones! Overall, I would recommend this place, just not for the romantic night out we'd hoped for. We're looking forward to another try and setting our expectations accordingly! Cheers, Mark W.
great food highly recommend the loaded potatoes and cheese cruds. ceaser salad was great as well delicious food. maryann is an amazing & funny bartender she makes one killer espresso martini and natalie is an outstanding & super attentive server GREAT service. definitely will be back!
This was an incredible value for money! Fantastic steak, service and salad :) We could come here again and again and again. Really good tasting dishes, lovely server and overall a really nice experience
We decided to try Amenia steakhouse after recommendation from a friend who frequents here often. Food was excellent! Atmosphere also great, our waitress (Cody?) was very unnatentive. Very long waits (15 to 20 mins) for every step from being seated, drinks, food to desert. Never checked if we needed more water, someone else dropped our food off luckily it was still warm, never stopped to ask how everything was. Yes we ordered desert and wait was so long we got up and asked for our check to leave. It was a little busy but there were 3 waitresses. Hate to leave reviews like this, but I felt I had to
Highly recommended Amenia Steakhouse located at 4905 Route 44, Amenia, NY 12501-5442. Extremely pleased with this restaurant from start to finish. Greeted upon entering and given a choice of seating. Our waitress, Natalie, was friendly and attentive. She gave us suggestions and checked on us several times during our meal. There was also a waiter who engaged in friendly conversation even though he was not assigned to our table. Ordered a steak and crab leg combo, which he loved. The seafood was fresh and the steak cooked perfectly. while there were several items I could have eaten on the menu, I was in the mood for salad, so I ordered a house salad,a side of vegetables and fries. But within a few minutes of smelling the yummy food I ordered the biggest steak an porterhouse. The salad was a generous size and consisted of a good variety of fresh lettuce and other vegetables The vegetables tasted fresh and were not overcooked. The fries were not greasy, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The dessert menu was huge, so we asked Natalie for some suggestions and ultimately asked her to surprise us. She brought us a piece of the Raspberry White Chocolate Cheesecake, which was a perfect way to end the meal. Will definitely eat here again when in the area.
